LOCKDOWN

Are you stuck at home?

In self isolation/lock down?

Kids at a loose end?

This could be a really challenging time . It isn’t easy to have life change overnight…

And none of us really knows how this is all going to play out…

But hey…

Do you have a piano or a keyboard at home? Or could you get hold of one?

Do you have internet access? A smart phone or laptop?

If so – how about you or your child like takes up a new hobby? Something to enjoy and focus on at this time?

I specialise in teaching those who don’t think they’ll ever be able to play – and those who have individual learning needs.

This is what my students are saying:

“Karen is just a wonderful teacher! Our son’s playing has improved so much with her as his confidence and love of music has been nurtured!”   Sunita McGrath, Melbourne

“I have two children who attend weekly piano lessons at Piano with Soul. Karen is a gentle and nurturing teacher and provides an individualised and creative program which accommodates the way in which they learn best. Recently we have moved to online lessons which continue to be engaging and fun. The girls look forward to their weekly lessons and I as a parent couldn’t be happier with Karen’s loving rapport with my children. I highly recommend Karen and Piano with Soul.”   Emma Hankinson, Melbourne

I am so glad to have found Karen as a piano teacher for my 8 year old son Ollie. She is a warm and gentle teacher who is clearly interested in connecting with her students on a deeper level than most. Her lessons are tailored to Ollie’s interests and temperament, and as a result Ollie LOVES learning, is keen to practise, and looks forward to each lesson. As a parent, I’ve been thrilled to see this musical blossoming in Ollie, and the confidence and interest that’s developing in him to experiment and explore on the piano (and indeed his confidence and self-belief more generally).

I am so glad that Karen is continuing lessons via Zoom at the moment. These work better than I expected! She can clearly see Ollie’s fingering, and they have even attempted duets! There is still a lovely connection there, including some fun games and activities at the end of the lesson. Thank you Karen! Sally Kuhlman, Melbourne

Karen has been teaching my son how to play the piano for the past six months. Karen has a wonderful way with children and is both innovative and creative in how she approaches her lessons. My son loves going to his lessons at Karen’s studio which is a nurturing and creative space. More recently we have continued his musical journey with online lessons which continue to challenge and inspire him.

The lessons are well rounded and include attention to both music theory (taught in a fun and educational) and piano playing incorporating some traditional elements with contemporary, innovative new methods. One of the most unexpected things to come out of the lessons is that my husband and I both noticed an improvement in my son’s reading ability as well as his focus and attention at home. They say that music has a profound ability to affect development in children and I believe this to be true after what we have experienced. Thank you Karen for all you are doing for our son. Christine Seow, Melbourne

“Karen has worked absolute wonders with my two children. Their lessons are a non-negotiable because we know that they learn so much more than piano. Karen continues to help our children blossom and grow and humans. It’s personal development through music. We totally love Karen and all that she does for our family.”   Renee Haseldine, Melbourne

I’m a Melbourne based piano teacher. My background is within the primary school system, where I taught for many years in the role of music coordinator and music specialist teacher. I absolutely love teaching piano and particularly love teaching those for whom it’s difficult to learn and those with specific learning needs.

I am now fully online.

My sessions are student centred and evolve from each persons learning needs and aspirations. My approach is primarily via exploration, games and creativity which enable easy and fun learning. These sessions are suitable for anyone – young or old.

Let’s make this self isolation fun hey?
